Say Goodbye to Dark Pigmentation in 6 Weeks!

So, you want to say goodbye to dark pigmentation in 6 weeks? Dark pigmentation or Hyperpigmentation as it is called, can make some people self-conscious. Finding a quick, easy and cost-effective way of fading hyperpigmentation is achievable, you just need to know where to go.

The product

John Plunkett’s SuperFade Cream (for hands & body) and SuperFade Face Cream are products that were developed by John Plunkett, a well-regarded pharmacist, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in the 1980s. John wanted to develop a product that would help Australians treat the skin issues that were common for them at the time. Hyperpigmentation was (and still is) a big issue for many Australians considering how much of our time we spend in the sun. So, John Plunketts SuperFade Cream was born.

How does it work?

John Plunkett’s SuperFade Cream and SuperFade Face Cream contain active ingredients Hydroquinone at 2%, and Salicylic Acid 1.5%.

The Hydroquinone disables the melanocytes, which are the source of the excess melanin producing the hyperpigmentation and stops them from over producing. The Hydroquinone will take approximately 6 weeks to disable the melanocytes and fade the hyperpigmentation, however it may take up to 3 months to see full results.

The Salicylic Acid helps exfoliate the skin and increase cell turnover so you can see results faster.

How do you use it?

As with any new cream, you should test for any allergic reaction over 24 hours with small patch of cream on inside of upper arm.

Since Hydroquinone is such a strong active, it is recommended NOT to use any other actives during the treatment of hyperpigmentation with SuperFade Face Cream.

Apply John Plunkett’s SuperFade Cream or SuperFade Face Cream sparingly only into areas to be treated after cleansing twice daily and at bedtime (3 times per day). After desired fading is obtained use only as necessary to maintain results.

As suggested by dermatologists: if you have sensitive skin then start treatment at night only, using every second night for a week. Once that goes well you can proceed to use every night for a week and then begin to use morning and night as per the instructions.

Mild irritation may occur (mild stinging of treated skin; or - mild itching, dryness, redness, or other irritation). Stop use if the irritation becomes severe. Avoid exposure to the sun while you are treating with John Plunkett’s SuperFade Cream or Face Cream. And finally ensure you are protecting your skin during treatment and use at least SPF 30+ sunscreen on top.

Never; use on children, apply near the eyes, or exceed the recommended dose. Excessive or prolonged use should be avoided because darkening of the skin can occur.

When using John Plunkett’s SuperFade Cream and SuperFade Face Cream, if you don’t see any improvements within 3 months of use, talk to your health professional. This medicine may not be right for you.  Read the label before purchase.  If symptoms worsen or change unexpectedly, talk to your health professional.  Follow the directions for use.

Where to include SuperFade Cream in your routine…

John Plunkett’s SuperFade Face Cream is a treatment product and the placement in your skincare routine is quite easy.

First you will want to cleanse your face using a gentle cleanser. Then for moderate to hyper-pigmentation you can apply SuperFade De Pigment Accelerator Serum all over your face, the serum rapidly reduces surface discolouration and mild pigmentation. After the serum you can apply the SuperFade Face Cream ONLY to the pigmented marks or areas that are concerning you. It is a spot treatment so apply it to the spots where you have the darker pigment showing through. Once you have dabbed this in ( which may take a couple of minutes) you can apply a gentle moisturiser all over your face, then finally a sunscreen of at least 30+ UVA and UVB protection, however 50+ would be even better to ensure protection, and don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen during the day!
